Super-charged Smoothies for the Whole Family

Do you have any hacks for how to get your kids to eat healthier?

I started by hiding all kinds of awesome healthy things in my kids’ smoothies and they had no idea…now that they’re a bit older and open to exploration, I also think there is a lot of value to talking to our kids about the FUNCTION of different vitamins, nutrients and foods in their bodies. We talk about “strong foods” and why those are important. I love this infographic from Kids Eat in Color with some simple language changes that can help your kids understand the importance of healthy choices:

They’re definitely not just for the kids – I will make a smoothie for myself whenever I’m not sure what to eat and want something satisfying, easy and nutritious.  There are so many ways to use protein powder, and the best one we’ve tried is Pure Protein Complete from Young Living. This is a delicious high-quality five-protein blend that tastes incredible and is so versatile as it comes in both Vanilla Spice and Chocolate.  This protein powder is not dairy free (it has rGBH-free whey and goat whey)... but Slique Shake is a vegan-friendly option.

Sam and I squeeze a couple half-droppers of Young Living’s Mineral Essence into our “tropical shake”.

Things I Hide in My Kids’ Smoothies

  • Life 9 Probiotic - supporting immunity, digestion and a healthy gut biome!

  • Mineral Essence - 1-2 half droppers for a boost of ionic trace minerals that our bodies need to thrive

  • Elderberry Syrup - a couple teaspoons of this natural immune booster and potent antioxidant

  • MultiGreens capsules - packed with the goodness of spirulina, alfalfa sprouts, barley grass, bee pollen, eleuthero, Pacific Kelp.

  • Frozen Zucchini*: high in vitamin A, C, carotenoids, antioxidants, fiber and more!  Plus this makes smoothies creamy and extra rich!!

  • Baby Spinach - Rich in vitamin K, magnesium, iron and lots more!  No taste, just nutrients!

I see countless protein supplement options out there. Cheap proteins may contain refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, synthetic colors, or synthetic flavors - or ingredients like guar gum or carrageenan, which are used as thickening agents. These ingredients have been linked to gastrointestinal issues and are used to hide the poor quality of the actual protein. I could go on and on about the supplement industry, but the bottom line is that that if you are looking for a clean protein that tastes great with premium ingredients and optimal absorption and digestion, Young Living Pure Protein Complete is a great option.
